Jesminder Bahmra, called Jess for short, lives in Southall, London, a part of the town where many families of Indian origin reside. Her parents want her to be a nice, conventional Indian girl. They hope that she will go to a law school, learn to cook traditional Indian dishes and finally get married to a nice young Indian man. But Jess has other plans. She wants to play football like her hero, David Beckham. When she gets talent-spotted by Jules, she grabs the chance to join the Hounslow Harriers, the local woman's team. Now she just has to keep it a secret from her family, which proves to be not exactly easy.

● My Opinion ●

I thought it would surely be a really bad book first, because we read it in school. And what you're reading in school can't be good.
But i was wrong. ;)
It's a super fast read, and the English was no problem for me because in my copy every difficult word was explained. 

Nearly since page 30 i started reading more than the one chapter we had to read, but read as far as possible while classes. The Story was so interesting and i really wanted to know how it was going on with Jess and the others.

Of course the story around Jesminder has a Happy End, what was clear since the very beginning of the book (and in general), but it was nevertheless a very sweet ending for a great book in which you follow a strong girl fighting for her dreams and doesn't let herself distract by her family that is against that.

I can just recommend it! :) You really finish it in one day.

The Tales of Beedle the Bard

In this little book you can find five tales of Beedle the Bard, containing the "famous" tale The tale of the three brothers, which is also mentioned in the main books. :)

It was nice to read those tales, I sometimes picked the up book in the evening and read one story. 

You also learn something more about the history of the whole Harry Potter - World so it was kinda interesting to read the tales that are an important thing for all the wizards in that world. :)

Quidditch through the ages

In this little Book you learn everything about the history and the origin of Quidditch, what was extremely interesting and partly even really funny. It's devenitly worth to read, but compared to The Tales of Beedle the Bard it wasn't as good as it. 
But read it! Otherwise you miss some important information about our favorite sport of all time. ;)

Fantastic beasts & where to find them

In this little book many many (kinda too many) magic creatures are explained, which have the statement as beasts. Even the introduction was really boring and at some time I didn't feel like reading the main part with the fantastic beasts. It seemed to me like the author just wanted to imagine anything so that she would have another book. 
Anyway, I read it till the end. Some creatures were interesting (Dragons, unicorns..) but some were just really boring.

I think it was not a good book but nevertheless a must-read for every Harry Potter - Fan.

The Tales of Beedle the Bard

In diesem kleinen Büchlein stehen 5 Geschichten von Beedle dem Barden, darunter auch die "berühmte" Geschichte The tale of the three brothers, welche auch in den Hauptbüchern vorkommt :)

Es war super schön die Geschichten zu lesen, ich habe ab und zu mal abends das Büchlein hervorgeholt und eine gelesen. Es gab ein paar für mich unbekannte Wörter (habe seid 5 Jahren erst Englisch) aber die konnte man sich meistens aus dem Kontext erschließen.

Ich werde es mir dennoch noch einmal auf Deutsch kaufen, da ich auf keinen Fall irgendetwas verpassen möchte, was mir auf Englisch vielleicht entgeht und da es wirklich wunderschöne kleine Geschichten waren. :)

Quidditch through the ages

In diesem kleinen Buch erfährt man alles über die Geschichte und Entstehung von Quidditch, was extrem interessant und auch teilweise wirklich lustig war. Hier gab es kaum unbekannte Wörter, die ich mir nicht aus dem Kontext erschließen konnte.

Fantastic beasts & where to find them

In diesem Büchlein werden sehr viele (ein wenig zu viele) magische Wesen erklärt, welche den Status beasts haben. Allein schon die Einleitung war sehr ermüdend und irgendwann hatte ich auch kaum noch Lust den Hauptteil mit den magischen Tierwesen zu lesen, da ich das Gefühl hatte die Autorin hätte hier auf Teufel komm raus irgendwelche Sachen erfunden nur damit sie noch ein Buch hat.
Auch gab es sehr sehr viele unbekannte Wörter (im Zusammenhang mit den Beschreibungen) die man sich auch nicht aus dem Kontext erschließen konnte.

Für mich eher ein langweiliges Buch aber dennoch ein Muss für jeden Harry Potter-Fan.

Review: Vampire Academy

 I finally decided to do a review to the book

Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead 

which is the first book in a series.

It probably won't be long cause i read it a while ago.

Someone seems to want to kill Lissa. The only one, that Rose can commit herself to, is the attractive guardian Dimitri...

● My Opinion ●

I will make this review a little shorter, but however say the most important things. :)
So, the book begins while Rose and Lissa still live outside school, they ran away because Lissa didn't felt comfortable there. Though they are caught after the long time they beared up outside by the guardians of the academy and are brought back.

The book was incredible: A whole new world, with kinda new species - Strigoi, Dhampires, Moroi - that don't exist in any other book i've already read. It's a beautiful world, nevertheless dangerous and despite this whole Fantasy-Vampire-Blood-Thing it is still a young adult novel in which the main characters have to fight with totally normal problems: A stupid bitch (sorry for that word) that wants to ruin your live, rumors, love.

The main character Rose(marie) Hathaway literally smashes you down, she is so tough and strong, you want to be like her. Overnatural talented & nevertheless still normal. I instantly became friends with her because i love her black humor and her irony and i also understand because i have kinda the same sort of humor :)

Lissa (Vasilisa Dragomir) kinda botheres me in the beginning, though i accepted her in the course of the story ;)


Dimitri Belikov. Quiet, introverted, a little bit dark and mysterious - but when he opens up for a second and his dark humor comes alive you just want to scream happily and grab him out of the book.

● In the end you can say that it was a really REALLY good book. :) Just the kinda missing story (changes in the 2nd book!) caused the 4.5 instead of 5 stars. It never gets boring, the characters are funny, partly crude - and because of that congenial, because you have to admit: who of us is fully grown up?! - and you just have to love them. :)

Definitly read it!

Review: Starcrossed

The 16 year old Helen lives with her father on Nantucket. There isn't much going on, even in summer - until the family Delos moves to the island. Extremely attractive the newcomers instantly fascinate everyone. Only Helen senses a deep discomfort. First when she fells in love with Lucas Delos she comes to know what's behind that. Because both of them share a common fate: They are demigods and are doomed for provoking a firce fighting through their love.

● My Opinion ●
I was really looking forward to read this book because a friend of mine - that likes exactly the same books that i love - had just read it and thought it was unbelievable good. It was standing in my shelf since weeks, so i finally read it.

In the beginning I was gutted: It was just alike Percy Jackson by Rick Riordan and Twilight by Stephenie Meyer, so that i first thought it would just be a cheap copy of those two extremely succesful books, and that it was written in the hope of being just as triumphant as the 'role models'.

After the first 50-100 pages those resemblances are gone and i was able to fully enjoy the book.
It's written in the 3rd person's point of view, what didn't change the deepness of the main characters thoughts and feelings - they are amazingly descripted and you could easily put yourself in their position. :)
In the end of you book you sometimes change the position, that means you're not 'watching' Helen but for example Hector or Lucas.

Until ~ page 400 the action is (where possible in the fantasy genre) realistic and comprehensible. But this becomes lost in the end. 'Unexpected twists' are mostly exciting, but not whether it twistes over and over again within 100 pages, also without reasonable explantions. That bothers the story a little.

● I can highly recommend this to everyone - all Fantasy- (and Romantasy-) friends that don't need dragons, dwarfs, elves and this stuff in a book for being complete but also want a little tragic and a hearbreaking lovestory. ;) Especially because you can instantly identify with Helen and because of the writing is not too teenie but kinda funny, this book is worth to read in any case!

Review: 13 reasons why

Hey lovlies :)

Today I wanna present you the book 13 reasons why by Jay Asher.
I hope my English isn't too bad, I'll try my best. :)
Right under this post I will attach pictures of the German (Tote Mädchen lügen nicht) and the English Cover.

As Clay comes home from school, he finds a package with 13 cassettes. He puts the first one into an old cassette player and pushes <play> - and hears the voice of Hannah Baker. Hannah, his former classmate. Hannah, who he secretly had a crush on. Hannah, who killed herself two weeks ago.
With Hannah's voice in his ear he walks through the night, and what he hears makes him getting out of breath. There are 13 reasons why she killed herself, 13 persons had their part on that.
Clay is one of them.

● My opinion ●
In the beginning of this book, we have a short look "into the future", the day after Clay had received the cassettes. This preview isn't long, so the actual story begins after a few pages:
Clay comes home from school and finds the package, he immediatley listens to the cassettes.
At first you think: How rude and unforgiving has to somebody be, to give 13 people the guilt befor killing himself?
Next in the story, after tbe first few reasons for the suicid, you ask yourself: okay, this hole thing seems to be bad, but is it really bad enough for killing herself?
Because in the beginning, the reasons seem to be incomprehensible and unfounded.
With ungoing story however, you are no longer "angry" with Hannah, that she gives others the guilt for killing herself. You are now angry with these 13 persons that ruined her life and not even realised.
Also the reasons, that now add up, become clearer and you start understanding Hannah.

● I read this book very fast, could barely lay it down. Because you always want to know: who's the next one at the list? What happens next in her life? But especially: Why is Clary on the list?

It's a very very good book, which I though take away half ★ because of the beginning where Hannah's motives weren't clear to understand.

I highly recommend this book to everyone!
